For the cake:
- 2 Β½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Β½ cups sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)

- ΒΌ cup fresh key lime juice

For the frosting:
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- Β½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 3β4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp key lime juice
- 1 tsp lime zest
- 1 tsp vanilla extract

1. Prepare the cake
- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Mix in lime juice, zest, and vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
- Pour batter into pans.
2. Bake
- Bake for 25β30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool completely before frosting.
3. Make frosting
- Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Add powdered sugar gradually.
- Mix in lime juice, zest, and vanilla until creamy.
4. Assemble
- Spread frosting between layers and over the cake.
- Garnish with lime slices or extra zest.
